Artist Statement
summer 2013

One of my favorite pastimes is gardening. I especially enjoy growing vegetables. My wife took an interest to chickens and so we have two small coops where she raises egg layers. We garden in a very small yard in the city. It is a joy to have fresh eggs and produce to share with family and friends.

My artwork has evolved through several themes and I enjoy working both from imagination and drawing from life. It is not uncommon for me to leave one theme and re-examine or discover another. This series is a result of hitting a block with an imaginative series and returning to drawing my surroundings to keep my hand in the studio. I started to document various aspects of my garden and enjoyed the results. This is the beginning of my Garden series.
